How to Safely Remove Acrylic Nails
Tools You'll Need
Before you begin, gather the following tools:
- Nail clippers
- Acetone
- Cotton balls or pads
- Aluminum foil
- Cuticle pusher (optional)
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Clip the Acrylics
Using nail clippers, carefully trim off the excess acrylic as close to your natural nails as possible.
2. Soak in Acetone
Pour a small amount of acetone into a shallow dish. Soak the tips of your nails in the acetone for 15-20 minutes, or until the acrylic starts to soften.
3. Wrap in Foil
Wrap each nail in a cotton ball or pad soaked in acetone. Secure the cotton with aluminum foil.
4. Wait and Remove
Wait another 15-20 minutes. The acrylic should be completely softened and loose. Use a cuticle pusher to gently lift and remove the acrylic from your nails.
5. Clean and Moisturize
Once all the acrylic has been removed, wash your hands with soap and water. Apply cuticle oil or lotion to hydrate your nails and cuticles.
