Residents and Visitors Urged to Leave Immediately
Authorities in the province of Alberta have issued an emergency alert for Jasper National Park and the municipality of Jasper, warning residents and guests to evacuate the area immediately. The alert was issued due to the threat of a wildfire located south of the town.
An Evacuation Alert has been issued as a preventative measure due to the number of fires burning in the area. Residents and visitors are urged to leave the area immediately and follow the instructions of local officials.
Photos and videos posted to social media showed long lines of cars as residents and tourists fled the encroaching fire in the dark. The fire is burning out of control and is moving quickly towards the town.
