Merih Demiral scores twice, Turkey survive late pressure

Turkey advanced to the quarterfinals of Euro 2024 with a 2-1 victory over Austria on Tuesday.

Merih Demiral scored both goals for Turkey, while Michael Gregoritsch scored a late consolation goal for Austria.

Turkey took the lead in the first minute when Demiral headed home a cross from Umut Meras. The goal was the fastest in the tournament so far.
