Tornado Destroys Homes, Topples Trees in Oklahoma Town

Barnsdall Struck by Devastating Storm

Town of 1,000 Deals with Aftermath of Tornado

A tornado left a path of destruction in the small Oklahoma town of Barnsdall on Tuesday morning, destroying homes, toppling trees, and downing power lines.

Chase Rutledge, pilot of CBSAP's Sky 5 helicopter, flew over the town and reported widespread damage. "It's a definite path that the tornado took," he said.

The tornado ripped through the town of around 1,000 people, located about 40 minutes north of Tulsa. The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado's impact and dispatched teams to assess the damage.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene and assisted in search and rescue operations. The Washington County Undersheriff reported damage primarily on the east side of the town.

Residents are advised to stay indoors until authorities have cleared debris and ensured the area is safe. The full extent of the damage and injuries is still being assessed.
