An American Airlines flight traveling from Los Angeles (LAX) to New York (JFK) on June 6 made an emergency landing in Phoenix, Arizona (PHX) due to a lice incident.

According to American Airlines, a passenger spotted lice in the hair of a fellow passenger, prompting the flight crew to make the decision to divert. The flight was met by medical personnel and pest control upon landing in Phoenix.

All passengers were deplaned and underwent a lice screening, while the aircraft was thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. The flight was delayed by approximately 12 hours before departing for JFK.
